Fundraising demonstration by TRO Denmark – an utter flop
Mon, 2008-10-06 05:36
Copenhagen, 06 October, (Asiantribune.com): On the sunny Saturday, 4th of October, in Copenhagen, the Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO) in Denmark, one of the many fund raising arms of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, organized a demonstration in Kongens Nytorv, a city centre, ended up as an utter flop, according to reports.
The TRO’s fundraising attempt in Copenhagen, in the guise of a demonstration was thwarted by the Danish Police authorities.
The Organizers spent past several weeks, in fact dozens of them, called for the participation of the Tamil diaspora to stage a massive demonstration in favour of 250,000 Internally Displaced Persons trapped in Kilinochchi, and Mullaitivu, which they claimed that they have been left alone in the LTTE held areas in Sri Lanka, after the NGO´s and INGO´s have left on the directive of the Sri Lanka Government.
In the line up for the final demonstration, the TRO earlier organized numerous smaller demonstrations numbering up to 30 or 40 participants in a few other cities in Denmark.
The organizers and participants in the demonstration held on last Saturday was clearly surprised, when a large number of police officers showed up, and questioned the organizers whether they organized the demonstration to collect money for LTTE terrorist activities in Sri Lanka. Sources said that Danish police acted swiftly, preventing the alleged fund raising secret agenda of the TRO during the demonstration.
The Danish Government was reliably informed about TRO’s proposed fund raising event organized in the pretext of assisting 250,000 IDPS who are held by the LTTE as human shield in the Kilinochchi area.
Furthermore according sources, TRO organizers had approached several Danish politicians to participate as speakers at the demonstration, but no Danish political leader showed up in the demonstration meant for fundraising for the LTTE terrorist activities.
The Danish media too completely ignored the event and did not show any interest to cover the demonstration.
The TRO organizers and the participants were highly disappointed as there was not a single media presence or politician at the event.
Sources told Asian Tribune that the TRO held demonstration in Copenhagen was a total failure.
