Sri Lankas hær åbnede i dag ild i “flygtninge” lejren og sårede 6 civile, her i blandt to kvinder og tre børn. Ifølge kilde fra område blev et 8-årigt barn alvorligt såret. De uheldige civile samlede brænde i nærheden af lejren, da episoden fandt sted. Men en srilankansk militær embedsmænd i Colombo sagde, at hæren åbnede ild, fordi de civile, som forsøgte at “flygte” begyndte at kaste sten mod soldaterne, da de blev blokeret fra at forlade lejren. Den militære embedsmænd sætter også antallet af sårede civile på tre. Episoden skete på førstedagen for de internationale børnedage som Sri Lanka siger at de vil fejre for børnene i lejren.

To afdelinger af Mullaitivu hospital, blev mandag beskadiget efter kraftige angreb, siger embedsfolk. Dr. S Shanmugarajah fra Mullaitivu hospital, fortalte til BBC, at man havde forflyttet indlagte patienter til Pudukudiyiruppu hospital og de ansatte er også rejst væk af sikkerhedsmæssige årsager. Også andre bygninger i Mullaitivu, blev ramt af bomberne, sagde Dr. Shanmugarajah.
