Sri Lankas præsidents helikopter konvoj, der var vendt tilbage fra Arugambay, kom under angreb fra de tamilske tigere i eftermiddag. Helikopteren som blev skadet, blev tvunget til at nødlande. Sri Lankas militæret anerkender ikke officielt angrebet, men begrunder nødlandingen med en teknisk fejl. Angrebet skete i den østlige del af øen som Sri Lankas regering påstår er LTTE frit område.
